1952: A Proud Moment- The Departure of the “Santa Ursula“

The Petersberg Agreement of November 22nd,1949, lifts economic sanctions on Germany, allowing large transport ships to be built again and the maritime insurance business to once more grow substantially.

It is a moment to celebrate when, on April 5th, 1952, the “Santa Ursula”, as the first ship and largest unit of the German merchant fleet, sets course for South America from Hamburg’s port.

Mund & Fester is, as of 1952, one of the leading insurers on the Hamburg Stock Market.
